All About Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is one of the most popular tourist destinations in North America. With both an American and Canadian side of the falls, you don’t even have to cross the border if you don’t want to! Both sides offer different attractions, along with that fantastic view. If you’re considering a trip to Niagara Falls, here is everything you need to know:

A Little Bit of History

Niagara Falls isn’t just an awe-inspiring tourist destination. It is also has the highest flow rate of any waterfall in the entire world! In addition, the falls have a drop of more than 165 feet. The falls themselves are made up of three different waterfalls. They are: the Horseshoe Falls (which is located on the Canadian side of the border), the American Falls, and the Bridal Veil Falls (located on the American side of the border).

The falls are just 27 kilometres away from Buffalo, New York, while they are 121 kilometres south of Toronto, Ontario. They are known for their beauty – and for being a great source of hydroelectric power. This area manages to combine both function and still be a popular destination for tourists from all over the world!

The American Side of Niagara Falls

What is truly unique about Niagara Falls is that each side offers a totally different experience. There is so much more to see than just the falls up close and personal! (Though, that certainly is the biggest part of the overall experience.) Since the American side of the falls has both the American falls and the Bridal Veil falls, separated by Luna Island, there is much to see. You can also experience the falls in a different way by visiting the Cave of the Winds – where you put on a raincoat and walk through a cave near the foot of the falls.

Still looking for more to do? There is also the Niagara Gorge Trail, the Niagara Science Museum, the local casino, and an aquarium nearby. So, whatever you’re interested in doing and seeing, it’s all right there at the falls!

The Canadian side of Niagara Falls is one of the most well known spots in the world. Why? It has that distinct horseshoe waterfall. That “U” shape is what brings flocks of tourists to see the falls each and every day. In addition to the falls themselves, there are also some fantastic attractions. You can take a ride on the Maid of the Mist, which takes people on an unforgettable boat ride, or you can take walking trips behind the falls.

Plus, there is always Clifton Hill. This street boasts stores, restaurants, novelty museums, movie theatres, clubs, bars, and mini-golf courses. If you’re looking for ways to act like a kid again, there is plenty to keep yourself entertained. In addition, there is also the nearby theme park, Marineland.

There’s no question, Niagara Falls is a fantastic place to visit. It doesn’t matter what side of the falls you go to – the views are truly unforgettable! If you’re looking for a fun way to spend a day or two, spend a little time at the falls.
